Office of Legislative Oversight requests FTE again; council adds sports tourism feasibility study to reconciliation list

OLO Director (identified in the transcript as Mister Silars) said the office remains at the staffing level it had when the council had nine members and before it received assignments such as environmental impact statements following council expansion to 11 members. The director said last year’s requested position remained on the reconciliation list and did not get funded; the committee again placed the same-services position on the reconciliation list in this budget cycle.
Separately, the committee added $100,000 to the reconciliation list for a feasibility study recommended by the Sports Tourism Task Force, intended to evaluate demand and possible locations for a new multiuse sports facility and related marketing functions.
The committee voted unanimously to forward the OLO budget recommendations and reconciling items to the council’s broader budget reconciliation process.
