The amount the committee discussed for the district payment was stated in meeting remarks as $1,086,475 for the coming contract year, a figure the presenter said represented a decrease of $14,676 from the prior year.
Under the agreement, the public health department will hire and supervise the nurses funded by the district, the district will reimburse the department for actual expenditures and the contract funds may be used for necessary equipment, professional development and mileage reimbursement tied to school assignments. The contract stipulates 35 hours of service per school per week by the school nurses and provides for unresolved disputes to be handled between the superintendent and the county health director.
Committee members asked about telehealth options and the district said staff were exploring tele-nursing models in follow-up meetings and would report back on feasibility. The contract motion passed in committee.
