Lisle board approves special-event permits, grants and a $15,000 budget increase for Hokusai art exhibit

The Village of Lisle board on May 5 approved consent-agenda items covering summer car shows and an art unveiling, $50,000 in special-event grants, engineering and leaf-disposal contracts, and a budget amendment to support the Hokusai community art exhibit.

Key votes and items: The board approved special-event permits for the Kiwanis Club of Lisle car shows scheduled for June through September and a May unveiling for a Hokusai and Lisle public-art exhibition tied to visits at College of DuPage and the Mac Center. It also approved $50,000 in special-event grant awards to five local organizations and an engineering services agreement with Baxter & Woodman not to exceed $329,205.20 to support plan reviews, stormwater administration, permitting and inspections.

The board approved a one-year contract extension with KLF Enterprises for leaf disposal not to exceed $55,810 and a purchase order for approximately 75 parkway tree replacements through the West Central Municipal Conference not to exceed $30,000.

Hokusai budget amendment: After Trustee Lesniak disclosed volunteer work on the Hokusai effort and said she would abstain, the board approved an ordinance to increase the Hokusai exhibit budget by $15,000 from the hotel/motel tax fund to cover additional costs. Village staff described the need for the augmentation, citing lower-than-expected sponsorships and committee planning goals.

Other board business: The board also unanimously approved the May 5 invoice list in the amount of $871,755.14.
