Palatine council accepts Cook County results, confirms village clerk and administers oaths; honors outgoing councilman

The Palatine Village Council on May 5 accepted the Cook County Clerk's official results for the April election, concurred with the mayor's appointment of Maureen Pasqualucci as village clerk through the 2027 consolidated election and administered oaths to the mayor and three newly elected council members.

The motions to accept the election results and to confirm Pasqualucci were moved and seconded at the special meeting; both passed after voice votes with no recorded opposition. Council members also approved consent agenda items 1 through 6 with a waiver of first reading.

The meeting included ceremonial actions: a resolution of appreciation for outgoing Councilman Tim Moore recognized his service dating to 2013 and his more than three decades as a Palatine resident. Councilman Tim Moore addressed the council after the resolution, thanking residents and staff: "I just want to say thanks to everybody in the community, and thanks for the surprise of everybody showing up tonight, friends and everything. It's been great. I really appreciate, like I said, all the support and all the things we've been able to accomplish in the village. ... Staff has been phenomenal to make us look good when we're up here. So again, just thank you for everything. Really appreciate it." The resolution was presented and the remarks occurred as part of the regular meeting record.

Officials who took oaths during the session included the mayor and the following council members: Greg Linder (councilman, District 1), Joe Falkenberg (councilman, District 4) and Brad Helms (councilman, District 6). Maureen Pasqualucci was sworn in as village clerk after the council concurred with the mayor's appointment.

Several standing committees called for the record reported no items on their published agendas; no requests for closed session were made. With no audience members requesting to speak on matters not on the agenda, the council adjourned after completing the ceremonial and administrative business.

The meeting's formal votes and oaths finalize the village's immediate post-election housekeeping; the clerk's office will remain filled by the appointee through the 2027 consolidated election absent further council action.
