The Panama City Commission on April 24 unanimously approved three ordinances that annexed approximately 2.14 acres of unincorporated land at 3716 and 3712 Airport Drive, assigned a General Commercial future land use designation and rezoned the parcels to General Commercial 2 (GC-2).
Staff told the commission the item had been recommended for approval by the Planning Board at its March 10 meeting and that the city’s Development Services director supported the commission’s approval. No members of the public spoke in opposition at the second and final public hearings.
Actions taken: The commission adopted Ordinance 32-61.1 (voluntary annexation), Ordinance 32-61.2 (future land use amendment), and Ordinance 32-61.3 (zoning change to GC-2) by 4–0 roll calls. The ordinances include standard severability and effective-date language and add the parcels to the city’s ward boundaries.
Ending: The annexation and associated map amendments bring the parcels into the city and align the land-use and zoning designations with the applicant’s request, clearing the way for commercial development consistent with GC-2 standards.
