District outlines 'PACE on the Go' RV to deliver registration, health screenings and clinic services

The Fall River Parent and Community Outreach Subcommittee heard May 5 that the district’s PACE on the Go mobile unit is nearly ready and will begin community deployments for student registration and health services.
A district staff member overseeing PACE on the Go told the subcommittee the RV should be delivered and wrapped by mid-week and that the team is planning community outreach events and school-based appearances. “Once it’s wrapped, I have been tasked with a lot of our community partners on some out-of-the-box ideas,” the staff member said, adding that the RV could host vaccine clinics and, eventually, on-site physicals performed by a partner nurse practitioner.
The staff member reported the program has already tripled registration numbers from last year at outreach events, noting about 380 K–12 registrations recorded so far this season. The unit has been used at parent nights and community events and staff said they plan to align visits with existing community gatherings to allow families to register on the spot.
Committee members asked about staffing, operations and funding. The presenter said PACE staff will staff events and the district is pursuing partnerships that could supply a nurse practitioner for clinical services out of the RV; hygiene supplies are already stocked through grant funds and the district delivers supplies to schools or families on request.
Committee members pressed on logistics — whether the RV will visit multiple school buildings on schedule and whether it will be able to deliver hygiene services — and staff clarified the RV will not include a shower but will support hygiene needs through existing supply programs. Staff also reported mechanical delays that have been resolved and said the wrapping, delayed by parts on back order, will be complete within days.
The subcommittee discussed possible summer uses, additional screenings (including lung screenings in response to youth vaping), internships and student volunteer opportunities to support outreach work. The presenter said the district is exploring internships and expanded volunteer roles but that immediate operations will rely on PACE staff and partner organizations.
