Officials noted that the district expects negligible incremental costs after 2028 when school-board elections would be aligned with the city’s general election schedule. Board members asked about prior election costs and the reasons for higher absentee staffing needs; staff said processes changed and that absentee ballot handling requires continuous staffing on some days, which drives costs.
The board voted to approve the agreement and asked staff to continue monitoring the city’s hours and charges during the contracted election administration.
