Board moves to grant permanent access easement to Center Point for Ash Lane expansion

Linn County supervisors agreed Monday to move forward with disposing of county interest in real property to authorize a permanent access easement to the City of Center Point for expansion of Ash Lane.
Daniel Gibbons of Linn County Conservation described the proposed easement as similar to a previously approved easement about eight years ago. "This is a simple easement to expand Ash Lane to allow them to do a expansion to the road to get some turning radius to allow larger trucks to enter their facility," Gibbons said. He said the work lies adjacent to the Cedar Valley Nature Trail and that the city will take responsibility for construction impacts and for addressing any trail-related work.
Gibbons also said the arrangement includes a potential community benefit tied to car-wash waste handling; the city proposed working with local contractors to receive and treat car wash refuse at an old lagoon site south of the trail.
Supervisors indicated support for the collaboration and asked staff to place the item on the consent agenda for the next board meeting for formal authorization.
