Supervisors agree to move vacancy form and DOT secondary-roads budget items to Wednesday; vacancy funded by Medicaid reimbursements

The Linn County Board of Supervisors on April 28 agreed to move a request for a temporary, part-time direct-support staff vacancy form to the consent agenda at the board’s Wednesday meeting and to postpone several Iowa Department of Transportation secondary-roads budget items until Wednesday.
Dave Thielen, director for Linn County Community Services, said the temporary hire is needed because a staff member is on extended family and medical leave and the county must maintain required staffing ratios. “We’re looking to temporarily fill this for ratio reasons,” Thielen said. He confirmed the position would be funded by Medicaid reimbursements.
Separately, supervisors voted to move three secondary-roads items — the FY2026 Iowa DOT secondary roads budget, a revision to the Feb. 25, 2025 Secondary Road five‑year plan, and the FY2026 Iowa DOT Secondary Road five‑year construction program — to the Wednesday regular agenda so supervisors could ask questions when secondary-roads staff were present.
Both procedural motions were approved by voice vote; no formal roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript.
