Board approves 2025 SLU bill exemptions; assessor notes acreage decline but higher valuation

The Linn County Board of Supervisors on April 28 approved the county’s 2025 SLU bill exemptions following a presentation from the assessor’s office.
Todd Chris of the Linn County Assessor’s Office told the board the 2025 SLU bill exemptions show an overall decrease of about 38.51 acres in the program, while assessed value increased by approximately $167,700. Chris attributed the higher valuation to the revaluation of agricultural land.
There were no substantive changes to the program from prior years beyond routine ebb and flow, Chris said. After brief questions and confirmation the paperwork matched the staff memo, the board voted to approve the 2025 SLU bill exemptions.
The board did not identify additional budgetary impacts during the public session.
