Resident praises Linn County for registering opposition to SF 507, urges continued DEI work

Circe Stumbo, a Cedar Rapids resident, told the Linn County Board of Supervisors on April 16 that she appreciated the county’s decision to register opposition to SF 507 and urged the county to continue work on diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion.
“I especially [appreciate] that the county registered against SF 507 and [an] act to restrict county and city diversity equity and inclusion programs,” Stumbo said, calling the bill “incredibly problematic.” She described efforts by the medical community to provide more responsive and empathetic services and said, “the need is real.”
Stumbo congratulated Supervisor Sheets on joining the board and said Linn County “can truly be leading the nation by continuing to learn about and act in ways that honor and support diversity equity, accessibility and inclusion.” Her remarks occurred during the public-comment period; the transcript shows no board response recorded in that segment.
