Acting City Manager Will Watts reported several administrative updates to the Longwood City Commission, including a $1,200,000 grant allocation for the Station 15 project, work on an undergrounding ordinance and next steps on the city’s solid-waste contract.
Watts said the city received notice of a $1,200,000 grant allocation for the Station 15 project but that final approval is not yet complete. "Although we don't have a final approval of that, that is a positive sign that they've allocated additional money towards that project," Watts said.
Watts also said the city attorney and he are continuing to draft an undergrounding ordinance; staff plan to present the draft to the commission at a later meeting. On contractual services, Watts said the city’s contract with Waste Pro is expiring this year and staff are working with Waste Pro’s representative to determine next steps and will bring suggestions to the commission.
Finally, Watts announced the city will recruit and post for a building official to fill the vacancy created by Phil Kersey's move to Seminole County. The commission did not take immediate formal votes on the items; the statements were reported as staff updates and planned follow-ups.
No final award or ordinance was adopted at the meeting; staff identified next steps and follow-up reporting to the commission.
