Jacksonville Beach special magistrate declares dog “Doctor Seuss” dangerous, bars return to condo

Special Magistrate Brenna Durden declared a German shepherd named Doctor Seuss a dangerous dog and ordered that the animal not return to the Jacksonville Beach residence at 1412 First Street North after a quasi‑judicial hearing on a code enforcement dangerous‑dog investigation.

Durden made the decision after hearing testimony from Jacksonville Beach animal control, the woman who said she was bitten, multiple condominium residents and witnesses who said they had video and photo evidence of the dog running off leash and behaving aggressively in common areas. "I am gonna declare the dog, dangerous," Durden told those in the hearing room, citing photographs and video that she said showed the dog bite and unprovoked aggressive behavior.

The city’s case was presented by Isis Crick, identified in the hearing as Jacksonville Beach chief animal control officer.
