Maintenance update: county orders magnetic clips for community room, approves Volunteer Paint for sheriff's garage

County maintenance reported damage to the newly finished community room walls and announced a new policy to limit damage from posted materials. The maintenance supervisor said the room has already seen adhesive and other residue after two weekends of use and proposed a remedy.
The county will supply magnetic clip kits for groups that rent the room. The maintenance supervisor described the plan: the county will keep boxes of 40 magnetic clips; renters will leave a $20 deposit for a box of clips and receive their deposit back when they return the clips with their keys. "And when somebody rents a room... we're going to have them leave a $20 deposit for the 40 magnetic clips. And when they bring the box of clips back... they get their $20," a county official said.
Staff also reported the exterior panel work at the Manchester library is complete and ready for mural painting. "Spoke with Holly today, and she's happy with everything and was like, the way everything turned out," the maintenance supervisor said.
On a separate maintenance bid, commissioners reviewed three proposals to repaint the sheriff's bus garage exterior. Bids were Volunteer Paint at $17,173; RAS Services at $22,001.25; and Golden Trust Exteriors at $28,008.85. The scope included pressure washing, rust treatment where needed, and painting walls and garage doors. A motion to award the work to Volunteer Paint was made and seconded, and the commission approved the contractor by voice vote.
A commissioner asked if money had been appropriated for the painting. Staff replied that the work was approved under the capital budget. "It it was approved both for... Capital 1," a county official said during the discussion.
Ending: County staff said they will deploy the magnetic clips and posting signs and will coordinate with the library and painting contractor to complete the jobs on the county’s schedule.
