Council discussed the Keller‑Haslet Road Extension ribbon cutting and opening: staff said barricades were removed and the roadway opened to traffic after a morning ribbon cutting, and the Texas Department of Transportation has agreed to install traffic signals after a new warrant analysis. TxDOT has placed the signal installation on roughly a three‑month schedule, though construction could take slightly longer if equipment timing requires it. The city is providing electrical and utility infrastructure and expects a private contractor (Encore) to begin power work within weeks.
Harmon Road remains closed to full northbound traffic where reconstruction is required; staff said no estimate is available because much of the work will be development driven and dependent on private participation. The update also noted that some new turning movements observed near Westport Parkway reflect nearby development access rather than an open through‑route.
Why it matters: the opened extension provides another route to FM 156 and is already diverting traffic away from Old Town; the planned signals and the Intermodal Parkway connection are intended to manage traffic as several large industrial and commercial projects move forward.
