The Town of Parker honored two Teen Court scholarship recipients at its council meeting, recognizing their volunteer service and awarding scholarships.
Judge Vincent White presented certificates and described the recipients as "two of our outstanding candidates," noting the program's growth and volunteer base. The awardees, Lucas and Avery, each logged more than 100 hours as defense or prosecution participants and panel members in Parker's Teen Court program.
The recognition highlighted Teen Court's role in providing peer-led alternatives for minors who commit minor offenses. Judge White said the program gives youth "the chance to be heard by their peers," and praised staff member Ashley Perino for running the program locally. Both students, who are graduating from Regis Jesuit High School, told council the experience helped prepare them for college and future work.
Council members and the mayor thanked the students and their parents for the volunteers' commitment. Councilmember Laura asked each recipient to name a standout experience; Avery recalled meeting a peer who later volunteered and described the effect as "moving," and Lucas called his start at Castle Rock Teen Court a "full circle" moment.
The presentation concluded with the judge delivering certificates on the council chamber podium. No council action was required; the item was a ceremonial recognition.
The Teen Court program in Parker is managed by court staff and volunteers and is presented to the council as part of community recognition.
