Board approves expanded Elevation contract for multilingual strategies and family communication

District multilingual staff asked the board to approve an expanded contract with Elevation to add strategies modules for teacher professional development and a family communication module for parent notifications and translated communications.
The strategies modules cost $56,837.50 and will be funded through an Illinois school-improvement grant referenced in the meeting; the family-communication module (which the grant review determined is not allowable under Title 3 for that grant) will be funded from the district’s teaching and learning budget for $9,000. The modules are intended to give teachers research-based classroom activities aligned to WIDA English-language proficiency scores and allow administrators to award continuing professional-development hours toward license renewal.
Administrators told the board multilingual department staff will monitor implementation and PLCs can use the modules to drive instruction for English learners. The board approved the expanded contract by roll call.
