The proclamation was presented to the commissioners and approved without recorded opposition. After the vote, Lisa Hamblin, family and consumer sciences educator at the Oklahoma County OSU Extension Center, described the county groups and their activities. "They are all over Oklahoma County. They represent Edmond. They represent Bethany. They represent the South Side, the East Side," Hamblin said.
Beverly Kirk, identified as a county secretary and president of the Oklahoma County OHCE Scissor Tales Quilt Guild, told commissioners the guild organizes community-focused events and charitable work. "We endeavor to build community, to strengthen friendships, to be able to communicate, and then to be charitable in our givings," Kirk said. She invited commissioners and residents to a future Juneteenth quilt show the group held last year and hopes to stage again in 2026.
The proclamation cites OHCE's role in developing leadership skills and community volunteering. Commissioners approved the item as read and invited the presenters for a photograph following the vote.
Less critical details: presenters asked for a group photo and described the quilt show as a recent community event that the guild plans to revive next year.
