Planning staff told the commission the city held its first public open house for the comprehensive plan on April 22 with both morning and afternoon sessions and a strong public turnout. Staff said survey responses and comments provided useful input for a “state of the city” summary that will inform the next phase of the comprehensive-plan process; a task-force meeting is scheduled for May 14 to review findings.
Separately, staff updated the commission on the Avalon Ridge development (the former West Madison Bible Church area east of County M). Staff said the project’s engineers are finalizing stormwater plans, a development agreement is under negotiation, and the developer hopes to begin construction in July.
Commissioners did not take action on these updates; staff asked commissioners to attend further outreach and task-force meetings as the comprehensive-plan process continues.
