Applicant Chris Mauser explained he intended to split the land into two lots to build a house for his daughter and said he was unable to attend the commission meeting due to work. The board first moved to return the application to the Planning and Zoning Commission for further review; after Mauser returned to clarify his intentions the board approved the rezone.
Separately, the board approved multiple additional items tied to general-plan amendments and rezonings: item 43 (a general-plan amendment and rezone for a Golden Valley parcel, commission recommended approval), item 44 (general-plan amendment and C-2H rezone in Golden Valley, commission recommended approval), and item 45 (an amendment and rezone in the Kingman vicinity, commission recommended approval 6–4). In each approved case staff said the proposals aligned with the general plan or required public hearing because of the plan amendment. Board members noted the presence or absence of public opposition during discussion.
