Board of Equalization abates penalty on AT&T 2024 escaped assessment

Jack McCool, chief of the State Assessed Properties Division, presented the petition, told the board that AT&T cooperated during the audit and petition process and that SAPD had no objection to abating the staff-applied penalty. The board moved to abate the penalty and approved the request.
The motion was made by Member Schaeffer and seconded by Vice Chair Lieber. A roll call produced unanimous "aye" votes from Chairman Gaines, Vice Chair Lieber, Member Vasquez, Member Schaeffer and Controller Cohen; the motion passed.
No members of the public in the hearing room or on the telephone requested to speak on the item. The board recorded that there were no written comments and did not take further action beyond the abatement vote.
The action was recorded as the board's formal disposition of the petition for abatement of penalty related to the 2024 escaped assessment.
