Supervisors approve travel, equipment and computer purchases for sheriff, parks and health department

The Graham County Board of Supervisors on May 5 approved three separate procurement items: out-of-state travel for a sheriff's detective, an unbudgeted equipment purchase for parks operations, and new office equipment for the county Health Department.
The board approved out-of-state travel for Detective Bretton Harsh to attend a conference in Chicago Aug. 4–6 after the sheriff's office brought the request before the supervisors.
The board also approved an unbudgeted capital purchase for a 6-inch trencher attachment for the parks department's skid steer. Trey Andrews, who manages fairgrounds operations, and other supervisors described the attachment as a planned acquisition the county expects to include in a future budget; supervisors said buying it now avoids repeated rental costs.
Brian Douglas of the Health Department told the board that state and federal funding flexibility allowed the department to purchase two copiers and six computers and that staff would collect three vendor quotes before purchase. A supervisor said the purchases would use state funding rather than the county's general fund.
Each item was approved by voice vote with supervisors saying “aye.” The board record does not show roll-call vote details in the transcript; the clerk recorded the motions as passed.
