The Madison County Board of Commissioners approved a request from the recreation department to use rebate funds from the county’s sports‑photography contract to replace restroom partitions at the Diamond Hill facility and to develop a plan for renovating the lower concession stand and associated restrooms at the main recreation complex.
Recreation staff said the county currently holds about $12,000 in rebate funds and proposed spending roughly $3,200 to replace plywood restroom partitions at Diamond Hill with the same style of partitions installed at the renovated gym. The department estimated about $4,200 to update the lower concession stand (new stainless surfaces, sink and electrical corrections) and said staff would bring a more complete design and cost estimate back to the board for that larger project.
“Now that I have an understanding, we will work on the plan,” the recreation presenter said during the hearing.
Commissioners directed staff to proceed with the Diamond Hill restroom work from the photography rebate funds and to return with a full plan and budget for the lower concession stand and the lower‑facility restrooms so the board can consider a consolidated renovation. The motion to approve the restroom replacement and to develop the concession/bathroom plan carried.
Ending: Recreation staff will begin the Diamond Hill restroom work and prepare a costed renovation plan for the lower concession stand and restrooms for future board consideration.
