The board approved the consent agenda, which the chair said included paying claims against the county in the amount of $1,196,489.99. The motion to approve the consent agenda carried 5-0 on roll call.
For county infrastructure, the board authorized the county auditor to publish notice to bidders for the Mayor Avenue Southwest bridge replacement over Picayune Creek (project L-R-19-2-73-52) and set a letting date of June 3, 2025 at 9 a.m.; that motion passed 5-0.
On finance, the board adopted a resolution establishing an interfund loan between the general basic fund and the debt service fund; the motion carried 5-0.
The board rescinded its April 24 approval of a fourth amendment to a coordination services contract for the county's decarceration work (DECAT 4-23-001) after staff discovered errors in the previously signed document. The board then approved a corrected fourth amendment, increasing the contract amount to $16,000, on a 5-0 vote.
At the end of the public meeting the board voted unanimously to enter closed session under Iowa Code section 21.5(1)(a) and 21.5(1)(c) to review confidential records and discuss litigation strategy.
What happens next: County staff will publish the bridge bid notice, carry out the interfund loan administrative steps, execute the corrected contract amendment, and proceed to closed session as authorized.
