Platte County proclaims Law Enforcement Memorial Day and Law Enforcement Officers Appreciation Week

Captain Jeffrey Shanks of the Platte County Sheriff’s Office asked the commission for the proclamation and requested that the United States, Missouri and Platte County flags be flown at half-staff on May 15 to honor law enforcement personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty during 2024. The motion to approve the resolution passed 3-0.
Commissioners offered brief remarks of appreciation for local law enforcement and noted the county’s cooperative relationships with partner agencies. The resolution was presented as a ceremonial recognition; no operational or policy changes followed from the proclamation.
