Lowell Planning Board delays approval of minutes, continues public hearing for 558 Gorham Street to June 2

The Lowell Planning Board on May 5 voted to continue approval of the board's April 24 minutes and to continue a requested public hearing on a proposed six-unit townhouse project at 558 Gorham Street to June 2, 2025.

Board members deferred the minutes after at least one member said revised minutes had not been received. The Chair, Lowell Planning Board, said the board would "continue them" to the next meeting; a motion to do so passed on a voice vote.

The board also opened the public hearing notice for an application by LML Investments, LLC for a special permit and site plan review to construct two townhouse buildings totaling six residential units in the Urban Mixed Use zoning district. The Chair read that the proposal requires site plan review under Section 11.4 for developments with more than three units and a special permit under Section 11.3 for four to six dwelling units on a single lot.

A Planning Board member asked, "Do we have room on June 2?" and moved to continue the hearing to that date; another member seconded. The motion passed on a voice vote with the Chair voting yes.

The continuance means the board will take up the LML Investments application again at its June 2, 2025 meeting and will review any revised materials the applicant submits before that date. The board did not take further substantive public comment or make decisions on the merits of the application at the May 5 meeting.

No other formal land-use actions were taken at the May 5 meeting; the Chair provided a brief non-substantive update about a local dedication but the board did not act on that item.
