Commissioners on the finance committee said the change will increase the HRA’s rental expense and estimated a budget impact of about $4,000–$5,000 in the current year. They also said the HRA has contingency funds and some line items underrunning, so the committee recommends the change. The lease itself runs through June of next year; the board discussed whether to stay after that date and acknowledged there are other options to consider with the EDA.
A motion authorizing the executive director to enter the agreement was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote. The board directed staff to proceed with the rental arrangement and to bring future lease decisions back to the board for consideration when the current lease term expires.
