Council defers developer reimbursement agreement for 7-Mile sewer pump station to July 14

The Spokane City Council voted by voice at its May 12 agenda briefing to defer consideration of the development reimbursement agreement for the 7-Mile sewer pump station until the July 14 meeting to allow additional legal review and negotiation.
Council staff said they have not yet reached a final agreement with the developer and that legal is reviewing whether to use a utility reimbursement area or a latecomer agreement. "We're just trying to make sure that the agreement that we come to is fair for the city, fair for the developer," Marlene said.
City staff earlier noted that final consideration is scheduled for July 14. The motion to defer was moved and seconded; the council conducted a voice vote and indicated all present council members voted in favor. The council tally at the roll call recorded that Council President Wilkerson, Councilmember Dillon, Councilmember Cathcart, Councilmember Zappone, Councilmember Klitzke and Councilmember Navarrete were present and Councilmember Bridal was absent; the item was deferred to July 14.
No substantive terms of the reimbursement agreement were approved at the briefing; staff will return with a revised agreement or recommended legal approach for council consideration.
