Supervisors authorize $16,000 feasibility and design contract for Deep Lake Parks maintenance building

The Muscatine County Board of Supervisors on May 5 authorized the chair to sign a $16,000 contract with Horizon Architecture for feasibility and design services for a maintenance building at Deep Lake Parks.
Katie Hammond, conservation director, told the board the county has two buildings at 2557 Pettibone and is seeking architectural help to determine which structure offers the best outcome for conversion to a major maintenance building. The design scope includes some controlled heating and air space, open (uncontrolled) storage and a bathroom for staff use. The county conservation board previously approved the contract and requested that the supervisor sign the agreement.
The board approved the contract by voice vote. Hammond also gave updates on campground projects, saying electrical lines, internet work and septic alarm installation are underway; she said officials remain on schedule for a Labor Day completion target and expect to open beach-area activities for the holiday weekend.
