Planning Board hears update: MCI redevelopment RFP issued, 35 parties requested documents

Planning staff reported that the request for proposals (RFP) for the MCI redevelopment visioning and zoning consultant was issued; to date 35 parties requested RFP documents. Proposals were due Jan. 27 with selection expected around Feb. 11.
At the Jan. 7 meeting the Planning Board received a brief update on the MCI (Massachusetts Correctional Institution) redevelopment work: the town issued an RFP for a single consultant to assist with visioning and zoning for the MCI site and related funding and implementation, and 35 requests for the RFP documents have been recorded to date.
Staff reported that questions from potential proposers can be submitted during the RFP question period, final proposals are due Jan. 27, and the advisory board expects to review submissions and make a selection around Feb. 11. The town’s intention is to engage a consultant to lead public visioning and to draft zoning that aligns with the town’s redevelopment goals and the state funding available to Concord.
The Planning Board noted that the chosen consultant will likely engage the board during the visioning and zoning phases and that public outreach will be part of the consultant’s scope.
