Superintendent Doctor Farnsworth explained that the district often loses prospective hourly hires during the 3–4 week window between an offer and board approval. He asked the board for authority to hire hourly staff upon completion of background checks and required fingerprint clearances and to present ratification to the board at a later meeting.
A board member moved to approve the superintendent’s request; the motion passed by voice vote.
The authorization is limited to hourly positions, requires a clear background check and accurate fingerprint cards, and will be followed by board ratification at the next meeting. Staff said the change is intended to help school sites fill immediate needs and reduce repeated recruitment cycles.
