District renews Kairos health plan, board agrees to absorb 3% premium increase for 2025–26

The Show Low School District board voted to renew employee health insurance through Kairos for fiscal year 2025–26 and to absorb an approximately 3% premium increase for the coming year.
Miss Davis, the district’s business director, told the board Kairos is discontinuing one high‑deductible plan and recommended adding a $1,200 PPO option so employees would have two copay plans and two high‑deductible plans to choose from. The director said the change increases the district’s premium cost by 9% overall but that the district’s share of the insurance premium will rise by approximately 3%.
“[The district] will absorb that cost this year,” Davis said, and staff characterized the estimated district cost at about $160,000 for the current year. Davis and board members said the absorption is intended as a one‑year measure; future years may require adjustments given planned salary work and other budget pressures.
A board member moved to approve the renewal, thanked staff for the work on the plan, and the motion passed by voice vote.
The renewal also adds the new PPO option for employees and retains digital vision and optional additional life coverage. Staff noted they informed employees during prior study sessions and thanked human‑resources staff for implementation work.
