A member of the Friends of the Library reported that the organization had completed spending $20,000 from two grants on programs and is pursuing additional funding for library materials.
Juanita Havel told the board, “We've finished spending the money from 2 grants, $20,000 on the programs that Anna Nohan had found a consultant to visit.” She said the Friends are now seeking other proposals and are applying for a Penguin Random House grant to purchase children’s books for the Nogales Library.
Havel said the Friends expect to hear back on the Penguin Random House application around March 17 and that the Friends would meet after the board meeting to continue planning. The group previously funded programming at area preschools and head start sites and said future proposals would be welcome from trustees.
