The proposal — option 2 in staff materials — is priced at $444,185.51 and falls inside the $450,000 budgeted for the project. Council approved the job order by motion.
Staff described option 2 as providing structural support to slow recurring rutting; an alternative cape‑seal option was cheaper but offered less structural benefit. With option 2, staff said the surface treatment should be expected to last roughly five to ten years before more extensive rebuilding is needed; full reconstruction of the road would cost substantially more, on the order of $1.5 million, according to the town’s pavement management guidance.
The work will proceed through the cooperative purchasing contract and staff will schedule construction to complete the project before winter.
