Huntington City Council approved a resolution authorizing the mayor to enter into a lease agreement with Hetzer Realty LLC for a single unit at 417 Second Avenue for use by the Huntington Police Department as storage.
City Attorney Scott Damron presented the terms: the unit contains 3,589 square feet, the initial lease term is one year with options to renew for additional one-year terms, and the cost is $5.68 per square foot, which staff said is within or below market for comparable warehouse space in the city. Damron said the property previously used for storage is planned for the proposed emergency shelter.
Council asked whether the facility will have security cameras; Damron said there will be security cameras but they will not be provided by the landlord. The administration and finance committee gave a favorable recommendation and council approved the lease by voice vote.
