Grace Smithson, chairwoman of MYAC, told the council that serving at the community center “is the best part of what we do” because members are able to sit with older residents and hear their stories. Several student members described program benefits: networking at the League of Cities and Towns conference, packing food for weekend meals, and community engagement at town events. The council acknowledged the students’ service and presented small plaques to graduating members.
Mayor Stephanie Erwin praised the committee’s work and highlighted individual accomplishments, noting growth she had observed in repeat members over several years. Students listed future plans: Grace Smithson said she plans to attend Northern Arizona University to study elementary education; other students described college or mission plans.
