Supervisors approve library contract, publish VA commission openings and OK retail wine license; acknowledge landfill report

The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors on April 28 approved several routine but material administrative items: the fiscal-year 2026 contract for county library services, publication of two upcoming openings on the Veterans Affairs Commission, acknowledgment of a landfill inspection report and approval of a 12‑month retail native wine license for Pioneer Village effective May 1.
The board authorized payment and signature on the library services contract for the coming fiscal year in the amount recorded in the meeting packet (contract documentation was in the board packet). The supervisors also directed the county auditor to publish public notice that two seats on the Veterans Affairs Commission will be vacant on July 1, 2025, and asked that the posting be placed on the county website and in other routine outlets. The board noted that commissioners serving on the VA commission must be veterans.
The board acknowledged a February 2025 landfill inspection report prepared by HLW Engineering Group and discussed minor items noted in the report, including trimming trees and filling trenches created when test ports were installed. Supervisors asked that maintenance address those items.
Finally, the board approved a 12‑month retail native wine license for Pioneer Village (start date May 1) after staff produced the application documentation. All votes on these items carried by voice vote.
