Alta officials conducted an online public drawing to allocate three Class B (property-owner) dog licenses from 18 applicants and produced an ordered list of alternates.
Town staff said there are six new dog-license slots this year — three Class A and three Class B — and that the Class B (property-owner) category drew 18 applicants. The drawing produced a ranked list; the top three positions will receive licenses unless they forfeit, in which case the next person on the list will be offered the license.
Town staff explained that only one license is allowed per household and that, if a selected applicant declines or forfeits, the town will offer the license to the next person on the drawn list. Officials said they will contact winners directly; staff set a six‑month window for filling vacancies from the alternates list.
Officials identified the top three winners as Mark Levin (first), David Curtis (second) and Alex Lowe (third). Staff read the full list of 18 applicants during the drawing and recorded the order in which numbers were drawn to establish alternates. Town Clerk Jen Clancy and Marshal Mike Morey were present and oversaw the process.
The town noted that the Class A slots (described during the drawing as the voter/builder category) were not contested in the same way: staff reported two people had signed up in that category and said council staff will address how to allocate those slots separately.
Officials said they will notify successful applicants and proceed to offer any forfeited licenses to the next person on the drawn list during the stated six‑month period.
