Council approves property transfers and condemnation authority for Needmore Road, sewer pump station and EMS site

The Clarksville City Council on May 1 approved multiple infrastructure and property measures to advance roadway, sewer and emergency services projects.

Ordinance 74-20-24-25 passed on first reading to transfer certain city-owned real property to New Vision Renovations LLC for the purpose of constructing a sewer pump station. The finance and gas and water committees recommended approval; the council vote was recorded as unanimous.

Ordinance 75-20-24-25 authorizes the mayor or designee to negotiate for purchase of easements and rights-of-way for the Needmore Road Improvements Project and, should negotiations fail, to pursue condemnation through eminent domain. The council approved the ordinance; the finance committee had recommended approval. A related item in the consent agenda, Ordinance 62-20-24-25, reflected similar authorization for right-of-way acquisition for the Needmore Road project and was adopted earlier as part of the consent agenda.

Resolution 56-20-24-25 authorizes an interlocal agreement between the City of Clarksville and Montgomery County, Tennessee, for utility relocation work at Charles Bell Road; the finance committee recommended the resolution and the council adopted it.

Also on the consent agenda, the council approved Ordinance 63-20-24-25 to convey real property within the public safety complex at Outlaw Field to Montgomery County for construction of an emergency medical service station.

Council members recorded no extended floor debate on these items; all measures passed and will move forward to the implementation steps indicated in the ordinances and interlocal agreement.
