The Walton County Planning Commission on May 1 recommended rezoning 7.52 acres at 689 Jean Bell Road from A-1 to A (commercial kennel) and will forward the rezoning and associated setback variance to the Board of Commissioners.

Applicant Michelle Brooks told the commission she breeds German Shepherds and requested the rezoning to comply with county rules while continuing breeding activity. Brooks said dogs would be kept in the house and that there would be no additional outside buildings; she also said the property was recently refenced. "Dogs don't get out. That's it," Brooks said.

No members of the public opposed the request. A motion to accept the rezone and the variance passed by voice vote and will be considered next month by the Board of Commissioners.
