At the May 1 meeting, the Murfreesboro City Council approved several public-safety purchases and a memorandum of understanding to fund services from the Child Advocacy Center (CAC).
Police equipment: The council approved the purchase of 17 police vehicles from Lonnie Cobb Ford for a total of $965,330. The vehicles include a mix of marked and unmarked cars and trucks; funding comes from the operating budget and the FY25 CIP. The council also approved purchase of mobile radio equipment at a total cost of $220,000, funded by the FY25 operating budget; staff said the radios will be installed in newer units.
Child Advocacy Center MOU: Council approved a memorandum of understanding between the Murfreesboro Police Department, the City of Murfreesboro and the Child Advocacy Center to facilitate services used by investigations. The police department will fund the MOU from its FY25 operating budget in the amount of $90,000. A council member noted the city has supported the CAC and partner agencies over several years and praised the CAC s role.
