The Murfreesboro City Council on May 1 approved the purchase of 80 tactical vests and helmets for the fire department under the Sourcewell contract to CMS Uniforms.

Fire Chief McCluskey told the council the departments current tactical gear is nearing expiration and that the gear is used for active-shooter response, domestic incidents and other situations. He said the fiscal impact is partially funded by the CF25 CIP in the amount of $187,565 and that the remainder will be funded from the AR24 fund.

Council moved and approved the purchase by unanimous roll call. Staff did not provide the total purchase amount in the meeting remarks but described funding sources and operational need; the item was presented as a standard equipment purchase under cooperative procurement.
