The Corinth City Council voted unanimously May 1 to approve a lease renewal with New Singular Wireless PCS LLC (AT&T) for tenant space on the city’s water tower at 3011 Park Ridge Drive and authorized the city manager to execute the necessary documents.
City Public Works Director Glenn Barker told the council the agreement would start with a five-year initial term and include four five-year renewal options for a total potential term of 25 years. Barker said the agreement sets rent at $3,500 a month in the first year and includes a 2% annual increase.
Barker said the first year of the renewed lease would bring about $42,000 in revenue and that, “over the life of the contract, it’ll bring in about a million dollars.” He also told the council the current payment is roughly 3% lower than the new rate, or “just over $3,000.”
Councilmembers moved and seconded the measure and cast a unanimous vote to approve the lease and authorize the city manager to sign the documents.
The lease is a renewal of existing tenant space on the tower and, according to city staff, does not add new tower facilities or new antennas beyond those described in the lease documents presented to council.
Council did not ask for additional technical details about coverage, antenna configuration or public-safety redundancy during the discussion recorded in the meeting transcript.
The council’s action is procedural authorization to execute the lease; any future changes to equipment or new collocations would generally require follow-up review consistent with the terms of the agreement and applicable city policies.
