Three students at New Albany-Floyd Co Con Sch said they are preparing to mount a production called "The Addams Family Young at Park," describing it as an original take on familiar characters that highlights family, community and student growth.
"We are performing and getting ready to mount The Addams Family Young at Park, which is the story of the characters we're all used to and we love so much of the Addams Family, but a unique and original story based on Wednesday finding love from a young man that she just met," said Student 1. "He's normal, unlike the rest of the Adams family who are a bit creepy and kooky. The show has a myriad of lessons. The biggest 1 being family first and family last. And so the lessons that the show has is definitely all about family and how important that is, even if it's not the most typical view of a family."
Student 2 said the production has helped students build connections. "It's amazing. I love the communities that you can build in theater. It's, like, 1 of the, like, greatest places to make friends and, like, we have such a great, amazing cast and crew," Student 2 said. "And our directors are really they're really good at, like, making things happen, and I think it's just it's gonna be a great show."
Student 3 described personal commitment to the program and growth in technical capacity. "I love sharing my time and giving it to the theater because it's a great passion to have. I'm excited to show how far we've come as a group, as a community, because we started out with little sets, not much technology, but over the years we've gotten a lot more stuff, and it's all grown so much," Student 3 said.
