The City of Mission hosted a dinner to recognize the top five graduating seniors from Mission CISD and Sharyland ISD, city officials said at the event.
The mayor of the City of Mission invited district representatives and families to the event to honor students’ academic achievements and to celebrate community partnerships. “It’s a joint effort with myself, mayor of the City Of Mission, and our council. We know how important it is to honor our outstanding students, and it’s our pleasure to host them today for a dinner in appreciation of all of the work that they’ve done throughout their school years,” the mayor said.
A school district representative thanked the mayor for the invitation and for demonstrating engagement with students. “I cannot begin to tell you how excited we are to have the mayor of our beautiful city reach out with this invitation to celebrate our students. It’s just such a privilege,” the school district representative said.
An event speaker addressed graduates directly with a message about careers and community ties, urging students to “go out, get experience, but come back and give to the community that’s given so much to you,” and telling them, “Don’t think about leaving and never coming back.”
Speakers repeatedly described the recognition as a collaboration between municipal leaders and local school districts. Organizers emphasized pride in students and their families and thanked district staff and council members who participated in the evening.
The remarks, as presented at the event, did not record any formal motions, votes, or follow-up actions by the City of Mission. Details such as the date of the dinner, the names of the honored students, and funding or sponsorship for the event were not specified in the remarks provided.
