During the May 1 committee meeting, the North Hills School District board acknowledged several program recognitions and accepted a small equipment donation.
Board member Stevens reported the district’s food service department was recognized by Great PA Schools for an innovative soup program that incorporates fresh ingredients into school meals. Stevens credited Food Services Director Lindsey Radzman and Chef Corey West for leading the initiative.
Board member Rennebeck reported that AW Beatty students earned seven SkillsUSA championships, including a North Hills gold medalist, Rowan Ashmore, in ad design. Rennebeck said Beatty will offer five summer camps beginning June 12 for students entering grades 6–9, with programs such as Babysitting Boot Camp, Beauty 101, Cuisines of Pittsburgh and Robo Camp.
Under education items, the board approved by voice vote a donation of lacrosse training equipment to Ross Elementary: a Champion Sports set of 12 aluminum sticks and six vinyl balls with a stated value of $140. Board materials list the donation as a $140 contribution for Ross Elementary.
Board members and administration encouraged community support for the programs and congratulated students and food-service staff for the recognitions.
