The North Hills School District provided updates on building and grounds projects during its May 1 committee meeting, including a major rooftop unit replacement at the high school, parking-lot and concrete repairs, and the recent dedication of Guadagnino Field.

Board member Santucci said the rooftop units at the high school will be replaced and described the replacement as the “big” project because it is funded by a reported $1,500,000 grant. "We are guaranteed — I put with a quote or asterisk next to it — that it will be finished by August 1," Santucci said. The board discussion did not include a formal vote on the rooftop work at the May 1 committee meeting; the item was described in the building-and-grounds committee update.

Santucci also listed other planned work including replacement of the gymnasium hoops, and various concrete and parking-lot repairs at the Hilltop campus. Board members noted the Guadagnino Field dedication took place the prior evening and was described as a “completed project.”

During the finance discussion earlier in the meeting, staff said remaining bond proceeds from Westview renovations and the multipurpose field are still available and being used to fund capital projects until those funds are exhausted, likely by mid-summer. The administration also said it had reduced the capital fund transfer for the coming year in part because of available bond proceeds and interest earnings on those bond funds.

The board did not announce specific contractors, bid awards or change orders for the projects during the May 1 meeting; those items, if required, would typically come later through formal procurement and agenda items.
