The City Council approved an amendment to the general plan changing approximately 9.2 acres in the Tonquin area from commercial back to medium-density residential to allow future residential development while retaining a smaller commercial area for hobby garages.
Planning staff explained the owner previously sought commercial designation for uses including an RV resort and hobby garages; the owner has since decided not to pursue the RV resort. The requested change returns roughly three-quarters of the earlier commercial area to medium-density residential while keeping the top portion commercial for hobby garages and similar uses.
Councilmember Michelle Tanner moved to approve Ordinance 2025-030; the motion carried by unanimous roll call. Staff noted the zone and subsequent development would follow up through standard planning and permitting channels.
