Commissioners described the 101 Southwest Street project as "one of the most authentic restorations" they had seen and noted interior work such as reclaimed woodwork, restored ceilings, foundation stabilization and shutters being repaired by Terry Cole. Several speakers said they wanted to confirm whether visible elements matched original photos before awarding the prize.
Commission members discussed differences between faithful restorations using period-appropriate materials and projects that use modern materials to approximate historic appearance.
