District construction on track; elementary bid appears near budget
Summary
Architect Bruce Parker told the school board that construction at Hyde Park and Nibley middle schools is progressing ahead of schedule and that the recently bid elementary project is coming in about $200,000–$300,000 over the $25 million budget estimate, with a final number expected in one to two weeks.

Bruce Parker, presenting the architects and construction update for Cache County School District, said work on the new middle schools is moving steadily and in several areas is ahead of schedule. "The ICF, the foam block, was completed exactly on schedule," Parker told the board, and he pointed to roofing and brick veneer installations that are allowing interior trades to begin.
Parker said Hyde Park and Nibley middle schools are roughly similar in envelope progress but that Hyde Park is about a month to six weeks ahead on interior electrical, framing and plumbing. "We still think we're ahead of schedule by at least a month, maybe more," he said.
On the district's upcoming elementary school, Parker said the district received hundreds of bids and that the apparent low bid range is "right around 25, between 25.2 and 25,300,000.0. We have budgeted 25, so we're just a little bit over." He said the project team is reviewing bids and hopes to finalize a number within one to two weeks and to begin site work shortly thereafter.
The board asked about an injury at a job site; Parker said he had only third‑hand details but believed the worker was awake and expected to be released from care soon. Board members asked Parker to get contact information for the injured worker's family so the district could follow up.
Background: Parker showed photos comparing the sites from two months prior to current progress, noting roof decking, trusses, and brick veneer as the most visible changes. The update covered both middle school sites and the separate elementary project that is now at the bid review stage.
What the board will see next: Parker said drywall work will likely begin soon in framed and roofed areas and that the team expects to present final bid numbers for the elementary project in the next one to two weeks.
